App Description
The poem was written by Boldinskaya in the fall of 1833, but published only after the death of Pushkin. It tells a simple story about the fate of a little man, whose fate is of no interest to anyone, like the fate of a piece of wood in the traditional St. Petersburg floods. The poem describes the events of the flood of 1824, which became one of the most severe in the history of the city on the Neva.
The afterword to the poem was written in 1909 by Valery Bryusov, a famous poet and prose writer.
The book uses the cover and drawings by Alexandre Benois for the 1903 and 1916 editions.
