The COVID certificate reader checks EU COVID certificates.
Finland uses EU COVID certificates as COVID passports. EU COVID certificates are available from the Omakanta service (certificate of vaccination against COVID, a certificate of a COVID test result, or certificate of having had a COVID infection).
The app user scans the COVID passport using a mobile device onto which the COVID certificate reader has been downloaded. The COVID certificate reader scans the QR code on the certificate, and the screen will display an accepted or rejected symbol.
The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare is responsible for the app.
USE IS VOLUNTARY
Use of the COVID certificate reader is voluntary. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your phone.
HOW WE HANDLE YOUR PERSONAL DATA
The COVID certificate reader does not collect or store information about the certificates and it cannot view a person's health data. If the app reads the certificate as accepted, the person's name will be displayed. If the certificate is rejected, no name, date of birth or personal identity number will appear on the screen.
