Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi (January 20, 1920 - June 20, 1969) was an Egyptian Quran reciter. He is considered one of the prominent and well-known figures in this field in the Islamic world, and one of the pioneers of recitation distinguished by his recited and melodious recitation. Sheikh Al-Minshawi was born in the town of Al-Manshawi in Sohag Governorate, Egypt, in the year 1895, to a family that inherited the recitation of the Qur’an. Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi began memorizing the Qur’an at the hands of his father. Sheikh Al-Minshawi was a good memorizer of the Qur’an and a great deal of knowledge, and Al-Minshawi completed memorizing the Qur’an when he was 9 years old.

Sheikh Siddiq Al-Minshawi then moved to Cairo and learned the readings from Sheikh Al-Masoudi, and he was a famous reading teacher in Egypt at that time.

Then Sheikh Siddiq Al-Minshawi joined Al-Azhar Al-Sharif to study the sciences of readings, interpretation and language until Sheikh Al-Minshawi was able to master the ten major readings, so he returned to his hometown in Sohag Governorate, and the reader Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi was famous for him at the time that he was the only reader at the level of Upper Egypt, so there were no famous reciters at that time. And he has 8 recordings of the Qur’an, but he did not record others. Sheikh Al-Minshawi read the Qur’an in many governorates of Egypt, so that he was reciting the Qur’an in the governorates of Qena and Aswan for three consecutive months.

He has three sons who are famous readers:

Ahmed Siddiq Al-Minshawi, the owner of a beautiful voice, died young.
Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi, the famous reciter, died during his lifetime in 1969
